DAY 05: FULL DAY, NGORONGORO CRATER - ARUSHA
Today we start very early at 07:00 am, with a packed picnic lunchbox, for the game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, a population of approximately 25,000 large animals can be seen. This is reputedly the highest density of mammalian predators in Africa. The crater has the highest known population of mountain reedbuck, zebra, gazelle and wildebeest. It is also known for the big five rhino, lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Your driver/guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating hidden animals. The birdlife is prolific here and up to a 100 species can be seen in one day. In the middle of the crater there is a large lake inhabited by hundreds of flamingos and from a distance appears as a pink border around the lake. With late afternoon approaching, while the east African sunset colors take your breath away, we will be leaving the Ngorongoro Crater and heading back to Arusha for the flight or overnight at the peace hotel.
